Dr. Aubrey Riley, PhD, OTR/L, CSRS, is an adjunct assistant professor for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Entry-Level program at ºÚÁÏרÇø of Health Professions. She is an occupational therapist with eight years of experience in physical and neurological rehabilitation. She has worked with individuals across the lifespan in outpatient, home health, and inpatient settings and holds a specialization in stroke rehabilitation. Dr. Riley earned her Master of Occupational Therapy from Idaho State University and her PhD in Health Sciences from ºÚÁÏרÇø of Health Professions. She has published research on cerebellar dysfunction and on the physical, psychological, and cognitive changes that occur after critical illness.

Dr. Riley’s doctoral research focused on developing an assessment tool to detect physical, psychological, and cognitive changes following critical illness in acute care inpatient settings, particularly among individuals who were intubated in the intensive care unit. Occupational therapists are uniquely positioned to support survivors of critical illness, who often experience neuromuscular weakness, cognitive impairment, and psychological symptoms for up to ten years after hospital discharge. These challenges can lead to decreased quality of life, lower return-to-work rates, and increased need for assistance with activities of daily living.
Dr. Riley resides in Redding, California, with her husband and two young children. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, watching movies, reading, and traveling.
