Dr. Nekima Williams is the Director of Externships and Residencies and an Associate Professor for the ºÚÁÏרÇø Optometry Program. Dr. Williams’ teaching responsibilities include Lead Instructor for Advanced Clinical Experience and teaching Primary Care.  She lectures in the first and 3rd year classes and brings a vast array of clinical experience to the university. Annually she is actively participating in international mission trips in Mexico and Africa. Her Doctor of Optometry degree was earned from the University of Houston College of Optometry in Houston, TX. Upon graduating, she had been in her own private practice in Texas focusing mainly on primary care, anterior segment disorders and specialty contact lens care. She has also worked in academia as a Clinical Dean and Externship Director. She is on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Optometric Association and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Utah Optometric Association. She spends her spare time watching basketball and doing outdoor activities with her husband, daughter and two dogs.
