Headshot of Nicole Mason

In 2003, Dr. Mason graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Chemistry degree with highest distinction in the curriculum. In 2005, she then graduated from Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant program where she completed a master’s project on the concept of international PAs, leading to that year’s Master’s Project Award. This original research was later published in PAEA. Upon completion of her PA degree, she transitioned into primary care medicine and has remained in the medical field. She is a University of Lynchburg doctoral graduate (DMSc) and currently practices general psychiatry, having obtained her Psychiatry CAQ in 2019.

Dr Mason is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants, where she serves on the legislative and research committees. In addition to these activities, she works with the Academy of Doctoral PAs (). This is the only organization aimed at furthering the pursuits of doctorate-trained PAs.

Over her tenure as a PA, she has developed a deep passion for the underserved community, with prior medical mission trips both abroad and in her home community. She has served as a PA preceptor for a student-run free health clinic in an inner-city area until the COVID-19 pandemic and has also worked with telehealth PA students across the country.
