Dr. DeLong has been a hand therapist for nearly 20 years. He earned his doctorate in occupational therapy from Creighton University. Since graduating, he has focused entirely on the rehabilitation of the upper extremity, including the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand, with an emphasis on anatomically based manual therapy. Dr. DeLong believes that therapy should be a hands-on, caring, and enjoyable process in which the therapist and patient work together to accomplish their functional goals; positivity, laughter, and personal touch are paramount to Dr. DeLong’s treatment style. Dr. DeLong treats his patients according to the motto “pain is not a healing feeling.” Dr. DeLong’s primary responsibilities center around managing the six clinics of Summit Hand Therapy, as he regularly pops into all the clinics to mentor, train, and assist his employees. Dr. DeLong is passionate about reading, backpacking, snow skiing, and golf. He and his wife love northern Utah, where they raised their four children. Dr. DeLong was raised in Mesa, Arizona. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese from time living in Taiwan.
