Dr. Sheri Montgomery is an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Bridge program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) from Tufts University–Boston School of Occupational Therapy in 1980. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Montgomery completed a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) at the University of Utah in 2013 and a Doctor of Education (EdD) at the University of West Florida in 2022.

Dr. Montgomery brings over 45 years of clinical experience and 13 years of full-time higher education experience. She previously served as an Academic Fieldwork Educator and core faculty member at the University of St. Augustine, where she contributed to both hybrid and residential MOT and OTD programs. Her responsibilities included course development, student advisement, and service on the Appeals Committee and Faculty Senate. She also served as the program manager for the post-professional OTD (ppOTD) program at Mary Baldwin University, overseeing course development, admissions, marketing, advisement, and instruction. Most recently, Dr. Montgomery was the Program Director and core faculty member at Hanover College, where she played a key role in developing and launching a hybrid, accelerated entry-level OTD program.

A dedicated advocate for the occupational therapy profession, Dr. Montgomery is committed to supporting both consumers of services and future and current practitioners. She actively engages in advocacy efforts at the state and national levels, collaborating with legislators to promote the value of occupational therapy. Her leadership roles within the profession include serving on the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Board of Directors, AOTA committees and task groups, and holding positions as president and secretary at the state association level. She is also a mentor to emerging practitioners and strives to foster professional connections across the United States. Dr. Montgomery is recognized by the American Occupational Therapy Association as a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association (FAOTA).

Dr. Montgomery has extensive clinical experience working with infants, children, and youth across various settings. She holds certifications in Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) and Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT). She considers herself a generalist, as her early career in Wyoming provided diverse opportunities across multiple practice areas. These experiences have also enabled her to establish a small private practice focused on expanding occupational therapy services and management opportunities. Dr. Montgomery’s research interests focus on hybrid learning, simulation, and leadership.

Dr. Montgomery enjoys quilting, baking traveling and spending time with grandchildren and family. She volunteers in her community at a residential program for women in recovery from addiction challenges.
