FAQ

The Scholarly Project (SP) spans three semesters. In SP 1, students finalize their project question and are assigned a project chair; in SP 2, they collect data over at least eight weeks; and in SP 3, they evaluate their intervention and present results. Students meet weekly with their project chair throughout the process. The project concludes with a formal defense attended by faculty, peers, and invited guests. The final deliverable may be a manuscript, poster, or podium presentation at a state or national conference. All students must also participate in the annual ר Research Symposium.
Students are expected to engage with course materials independently through the designated learning platform (Canvas). While students have flexibility in managing their study time, consistent participation and time management are essential for success. Weekly engagement in the course is required. Synchronous sessions may be scheduled by faculty to engage students in discussions or to address a particularly difficult topic. These sessions are recorded for students unable to attend. Communication with instructors is critical. Students are expected to respond to any email or phone message within 48 hours. Faculty are expected to respond to student emails within 48 business hours.
Academic advisors are assigned to students in the first course and remain with the students throughout their program. FNP and ENP students meet with their advisor during the on-site visits. PMHNP students connect with their advisor via email. All faculty members, including the Program Director, the Director of Clinical Education, the Clinical Coordinator, and the Chair of the Department of Nursing are available to support you throughout your studies. For general questions or guidance, please reach out to your Program Director.

Technology Requirements

No, your computer does not need to be brand new – just reliable and with an operating system and specifications as listed on the Admissions page. If you intend to purchase a new computer, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to become familiar with it prior to beginning courses.

You are welcome to use a desktop computer at home. However, if you are in a program that includes onsite classes, you must have a laptop to bring with you.

Because software aside from apps available via an internet browser will be used, a Chromebook is not sufficient. Chromebook can be incompatible with some required software.

Sorry, no. A hybrid/convertible laptop will be fine, but a tablet (including iPad) is not sufficient. Tablets can be incompatible with some required software.

Our “Welcome to ר!” student resource course includes specific information about multiple resources available to incoming students. In addition, at 6 weeks before the start of your program (PA students at 8-10 weeks), you will be enrolled in our required New Student Orientation course, “ר101”. Participation in this course will give you practice with our systems and experience online.

The most critical thing is a strong, stable internet connection. This is VITAL for all students. If your current internet signal is poor or you only have access to public WiFi, you should secure a more reliable option such as a different internet provider, a higher-level internet service contract, or a dedicated mobile hotspot. To participate in online meetings, you need a microphone and webcam. Most laptops have these built-in. If you choose to use a desktop computer at home, you will need to obtain a headset or external microphone in order to be heard.  The  is a recommended affordable choice.
